SUFFOLK WATER QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS
SEPTIC CHALLENGES
Around 70% of Suffolk County's 1.5 million residents have an on on-site sanitary wastewater treatment and disposal systems. These systems typically consist of a septic tank or cesspool to manage solids, paired with leaching pools that enable clarified water to infiltrate the ground. However, many systems in older communities have exceeded 40 years of use, leading to a significant rise in failure rates, particularly in areas with high groundwater levels.
PROJECT
STATUS
Utility markouts, surveys, and soil borings are currently underway. These essential pre-construction activities will help ensure accurate planning and construction of the future sewer infrastructure.
A mailer has been sent to all residents within the project area. This includes important questions that are critical for designing the sewer system. We kindly ask all residents to complete the form and mail it back to D&B Engineers and Architects as soon as possible. Your cooperation is vital to the success of this project, and we greatly appreciate your prompt response.
